Weekly Reflection- Fifth Week

The fifth week of teaching practice was for completing peer teaching. I had two pending classes and after citizenship training camp, I conducted peer teaching class on 08.03.2021 and 09.03.2021. I had to teach two more classes to reach the 15 peer classes count. So I took the chapter, 'The Biology of Movement'. First class was about the Importance of exercise. The concept of Involuntary movement was taught by using the Concept Attainment Model by Jerome S Bruner. It was interesting to teach in a new way. Charts and pictures were used for teaching. So my peer teaching classes were completed on 9th March 2021. Though I cannot equate these with the real experience of teaching in the classroom with real students, it was still a good experience to reflect on my weakness and strength as a classroom teacher. It also helped my rectify my mistakes as a teacher and to improve the quality of my teaching.

Reading and Reflection on Text

Cover Page of the book As a part of B.Ed. curriculum, I had to read a book that is related to my optional subject and write a reflection on the same. I selected the book, ' The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History'  by Elizabeth Kolbert for my reading. Over the last half-billion years, there have been Five mass extinctions, when the diversity of life on earth suddenly and dramatically contracted. Scientists around the world are currently monitoring the sixth extinction, predicted to be the most devastating extinction event since the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs. This time around, the cataclysm is us. It was an informative and insightful book. I got a...

Weekly Reflection - Fourth Week

The fourth week of teaching practice was from 22.02.2021 to 24.02.2021. It was the final week of teaching for school students. During this week I completed the unit 'For the continuity of generations'. The important topics covered during the class were- What happens if fertilization occurs, The peculiarities of the Adolescence stage and the food habits that must be followed by an adolescent for healthy growth and development of the body.   Slides containing pictures and videos were used for teaching the class. I gained more confidence as I was reaching towards the end of the teaching practice. Students were very cooperative and obedient throughout the learning process and it improved my motivation and confidence. On the last day, I gave students time to ask doubts and clarify them. After that I told I'll inform them about the dates of Achievement test and Diagnostic test through WhatsApp and conduct them soon. Then students shared their feedback and the class was dispersed ...

Male and female reproductive system were explained using labelled diagrams. The process of menstruation which is very important for students to understand was also taught during this teaching week. Everyday, students doubts were clarified and they w...
